Yacht owners who insist on using the roads instead of the waterways in Founder's Falls will face a new regime of fines and penalties starting next month. Despite the popularity of the practise, which sees wealthy Paragon citizens drive their boats to work before a leisurely sunset cruise, City Hall is demanding that such behaviour be stopped.
Tomas Quinn, head of the Paragon City Roads Department, said the act of "sailing down Paragon highways" was "dangerous, damaging and short-sighted." "The roads of Paragon City are made for cars, not yachts that are almost twice the width of a family sedan. Having a heavy boat on the roads also increases the wear and tear on the bitumen, increasing maintenance costs," says Mr Quinn.
To stop such activities, people caught engaging in such behaviour from next month will face fines of up to $1000 and risk losing their mooring point at the Paragon City Yacht Club. It is hoped these penalties will see the streets of Founder's Falls made safer for pedestrians and drivers.
