New Road Laws Enforced in Founder's Falls

by Pere Torr

Yacht owners who insist on using the roads instead of the waterways in Founder's Falls will face a new regime of fines and penalties starting next month. Despite the popularity of the practise, which sees wealthy Paragon citizens drive their boats to work before a leisurely sunset cruise, City Hall is demanding that such behaviour be stopped.

Tomas Quinn, head of the Paragon City Roads Department, said the act of "sailing down Paragon highways" was "dangerous, damaging and short-sighted." "The roads of Paragon City are made for cars, not yachts that are almost twice the width of a family sedan. Having a heavy boat on the roads also increases the wear and tear on the bitumen, increasing maintenance costs," says Mr Quinn.

To stop such activities, people caught engaging in such behaviour from next month will face fines of up to $1000 and risk losing their mooring point at the Paragon City Yacht Club. It is hoped these penalties will see the streets of Founder's Falls made safer for pedestrians and drivers.

With changes to road rules, hopefully these yacht accidents will soon be a thing of the past.

Heroes Urged to Stick to Sidewalks

by Barry Dawdle

The Paragon City Main Roads Deparment is launching an advertising campaign aimed at getting heroes to use the sidewalks when travelling in the City rather than running down the centre of the road. Although the streets of Paragon City aren't packed with cars at the moment, as the number of both heroes and cars increases, more accidents are expected.

This problem has been seen in Paragon City in the past - superspeed heroes, who often need a bit more space than ordinary sprinting heroes, have been running down the centre of highways for as long as most citizens can remember. The difference this time is that it is the majority of heroes that appear to be using the roads to travel rather than the footpaths.

This causes problems for regular road users, who have to continually swerve to avoid oncoming heroes. "Every time I turn a corner, I gotta be looking in all directions at once," says one truck driver. "You don't know when a hero or sumthin' will be coming the other way, or cut you off or sumthin'. Hero or not, you cut me off and you're gonna be hearing about it!"

Some heroes feel that the anti-roadrunning campaign is misguided. "I've been all over Paragon City, so I can say with confidence that the most dangerous place to be is often the sidewalk," says Lovelace, a Technology Tanker. "There's muggings, alien scouts, drug dealers - in short, the works - that can be found on the pavement in any zone. Running on the road is just a safer way to travel. I can say from experience that getting hit by a car hurts less than getting hit by a Gardvord."

This campaign will have its public launch in the near future.

Explosion Injures Three at Kalil Research Co.

by Adrian Chase

Yesterday morning, a large explosion occurred within the main laboratories of the Kalil Research Company. Recently taken over by Crey Industries, the KR have been passing a time of change, with some of their most prominent scientists being fired and new Crey personnel taking over operations. Now, this blast could represent a big hit in to Kalil operations.

“I’d never saw an explosion like that before,” say Greg McDurvall, Chief Firefighter of the 102th Brigade. “There is no fire at all that we could put out. And the damages are very unusual too. Everything in the lab was broken into very small pieces.”

The company CEO, Willian Landers, says that there was no real damage to the facility caused by the explosion and that everything was only an accident. “Sometimes science can be an unpredictable thing. We are breaking the laws of physics here - in a project like this, some minor damage may occur, but it's for the greater good.”

The city authorities do not agree to Mr Landers and have announced that they are going to close the Kalil Research facilities until a team of independent investigators proves that there are no dangerous experiments being conducted by KR within the Paragon City area.

Good luck to those entering Paragon City!
